Someone once told me she thought in soundtracks. She associated people, places, things, events with certain songs that would play over and over in her head. A symptom of insanity? I certainly don’t think so. Because let’s face it, who DOESN’T hear the Imperial March of the Empire whenever someone they loathe walks into the room? Certain music creates certain moods, and the same can be said for the vice-versa.
With that said, I’m compiling a themed mini-playlist for you, my exquisite readers, to enjoy or despise at your discretion over the course of the next few weeks. I will take requests from you if you want to see a specific song mentioned, that is, if the song fits in with the playlist theme of my choosing.
And here is your musical fix! Enjoy!
Week of 11/5/10: Songs Too Classic/Sacred For Glee to Cover
Friday- California Dreaming, The Mamas and The Papas
Saturday- Shelter from the Storm (Live), Bob Dylan
Sunday- American Pie, Don McLean
Monday- Bohemian Rhapsody, Queen
Tuesday- My Sharona, The Knack
Wednesday- All Along the Watchtower, Jimi Hendrix
Thursday- Imagine, John Lennon
ETA: It was brought to my attention that not one but TWO of the songs on this list have, in fact, been covered by the cast of Glee. To that all I can say is commiting musical blasphemy is a risk the writers of the show obviously have no fear in taking, and there is a special place reserved in writer’s hell for Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuk, and Ian Brennan.
